FAQs

WHEN ARE MATERNITY SESSIONS USUALLY DONE?

Maternity sessions are usually scheduled between 28 and 34 weeks. I’ve done them after 34 weeks also, so it really just depends on how you feel and if you’re up to it.

DO I NEED TO BUY MY OWN DRESS FOR MATERNITY SESSIONS?

I have a selection of high end maternity gowns to choose from, but you’re welcome to wear your own dress if you’d like. For underneath your dress, I recommend nude colored bra (strapless) and underwear, preferably something that’s not going to show a lot of lines). *When we do your in-person consultation, I’ll bring some gowns with me for you to try on.

DO YOU OFFER STUDIO MATERNITY SESSIONS?

Most of my maternity sessions are on location, but I also have access to a studio if that’s something you prefer.

WHEN SHOULD WE BOOK OUR NEWBORN SESSION?

It is HIGHLY recommended that you book BEORE baby is born (during 2nd or early 3rd trimester is best). Since I offer luxury in-home newborn sessions, I only take 4 newborns a month. This type of session isn’t something you want to be scheduling last minute. You need to do your research and make sure you find a photographer who specializes in newborns and is trustworthy before you hand over your precious little one.

DO I NEED TO BRING ANYTHING FOR THE NEWBORN SESSION?

I bring everything we need for your session – lighting, backdrops, props, high end outfits and wraps, etc. If you have something special you want me to use, just let me know. *A special word on crochet outfits – Store-bought or online crochet outfits generally do not fit newborns very well. They’re usually too big. If your baby is under 8 pounds, I would say, don’t buy it. Some of those outfits look cute at the time, but I try to steer clients towards more classic, timeless clothing that won’t go out of style, but I will never say no to a client if that’s your heart’s desire.

WHEN ARE NEWBORN SESSIONS USUALLY DONE?

I usually schedule newborns around 2-3 weeks after birth. That time frame is flexible of course, especially if baby was born a few weeks early. If baby is getting circumcised, you want to wait about a week. Also, babies go through numerous growth spurts. You’ll know this because they’ll be extra fussy and want to feed all day. It’s called cluster feeding and it’s almost impossible to do a session during this time. The first growth spurt is usually around 7-10 days and then 2-3 weeks. All babies are different though, so just be aware of their patterns. These growth spurts usually last 2-3 days but can also last up to a week.

CAN MY OTHER CHILDREN BE INCLUDED IN THE NEWBORN SESSION?

Of course! I always include parents and siblings in my sessions. I also love adding in pets if you think they’ll cooperate. I believe family pictures are so important because it shows the bond you all share and that’s something you definitely want to have memories of.

DO WE GET ALL THE IMAGES FROM THE SESSION?

During your ordering appointment, you’ll choose your favorite images and the print products that work best for you and your home. You will receive the matching digital images up to 8×10 for making small prints and sharing online.

DO YOU PROVIDE THE RAW FILES OR UNEDITED IMAGES?

Absolutely not. My job as a professional photographer is to give my clients finished images and print products so they can enjoy them for years to come. A great deal of time and energy is spent creating beautiful artwork for my clients. This is non-negotiable.
