Product Spotlight – Photoblocks
One of my responsibilities as a professional photographer, is making sure I provide my clients with options for displaying their artwork from their sessions. Photoblocks are one of the most in-demand products this year!
Handing someone a disc of images is an easier way to go, but then, I would be cheating them out of the best part of having professional photos taken, and that is having finished artwork to display in their home.
Most of the products available to professional photographers are not available to the consumer and if they are, they’re not high end products that are going to last a lifetime. For example, albums available through Snapfish or Shutterly aren’t going to be anywhere near the same high quality that you get from a professional lab through a photographer. Let’s be honest, most people don’t have the time or design knowledge to put together a beautiful heirloom-quality album.
When you go through a photographer, you’re getting the very best quality for your money. I know people often want to attempt to DIY in order to save money. However, large prints are expensive and if you make a mistake with the sizing, you’re going to regret it. I have software that I use to help clients envision different sizes of photos on their walls. I can even take a photo of their space and show them exactly what different photos will look like in different sizes and configurations on their walls. How cool is that?
So, this brings me to one of the neatest products to come out this year and that is – PHOTOBLOCKS. These are handmade products that are made in the Netherlands. Prints are adhered to wood blocks and the edges are sanded to give them a rustic look. The prints are covered with a protective layer for water and light resistance. The protection layer adds a unique look and the subtle charm of a painted piece. They are truly unique!
There are many different configurations to choose from – whether you want one large piece or a wall grouping to show off the best images from your session. Contact me for more information! Lisa
This last photoblock is one of my favorites. The top can include another photo or it can be customized with baby’s name and/or birth stats.
